Sheila and Mitzi will be attending the next horse auction at Delta Sales Yard on December 4th. We're still looking for another equine to add to the rescue.
Dana will be composing a letter to local vets across the Western Slope letting them know we exist and to contact us should they have any foundered equines that are on the verge of euthanization due to owner's not being able to pay for the treatments, or all conventional treatment options have been exhausted for the horse. A brochure and business card will be enclosed.
We are cancelling Chili's Night out on November 17th and for the remainder of the year and will resume our application for next spring.
Rib City Grill offers a program called "Show Your Colors" for non-profit organizations where people can come in the restaurant at any time or between a specific time frame and collect tokens that will be given to non-profit organizations to cash in at Alpine Bank. Dana will be filling out application for that and create a banner to display on website where visitors can get more information.
The IRS will be hosting a webinar on 11/18/2010 at 12pm Mountain/1pm Central for new non-profits that will discuss paperwork for filing taxes and other great details that will be most helpful for us come tax season.
Easter Egg Ride is set for April 16th 2011 and Sheila will be applying for our permit this month for that day. Dana will contact Hallum Insurance to see about obtaining proof of comprehensive insurance that is required by the BLM for any event. We will be looking at official costs of organizing the EER so we can determine how much to charge people who wish to register. We want to be sure we match or preferably exceed our costs. We will need simple food and beverage items, at least 6-10 volunteers to handle registration tables, concessions, souvenirs, awards, and course marshalling. We will include many of our AFF crafts and T-Shirts to raise further monies. Sheila will look into the cost of Porta-Potties, and sponsors to provide gift cards and other donated items for the prizes. Dana will create flyers and other marketing material.
Post Office renewal is due again and while it was discussed we may not renew, it was concluded that we do have tons of business cards that we need to use up first, thus we will renew for another 6 months at $48.00.
Dana will create an Etsy shop to sell our crafts and will also experiment with making stuffed horses for AFF.
Sheila reports that due to health issues and other stresses we will be lightening our AFF duties this winter. The next AFF meeting was not scheduled and we are keeping it open this winter. Regular scheduled meetings will resume in January 2011.
