In attendance were Sheila Campbell, Mitzi DeMont and Dana Lysons
The meeting minutes from last meeting were read by Dana Lysons.
Treasury report: Not read at this time
Board Members:
Treasurer and secretary duties were transferred between Dana and Mitzi. Dana is now secretary, and Mitzi is now treasurer. Dana will email Mitzi the tracking report for Coloramo.
Volunteers:
Sheila and Dana will be meeting with Vicky and Joy at lunch to give our thank-you gifts for the amazing effort the two of them put forth into organizing the yard sale on 07/04/10 and 07/05/2010. Dana utilized her talents to draw pictures of Jamie and Thomas for the both of them. It was our most successful fundraiser to date and they deserved special recognition.
Donations:
Sheila reported she picked up about $300 worth of hay from an individual who wished to donate to the rescue. All total there were 22 bales of hay.
Fundraising:
It was reported that we received a check in the mail from Chili's for their Chili's Night Out scheduled on 08/24/2010. Our 10% earned was $50.00 which was more than anyone had anticipated. We all agreed to schedule another Chili's Night Out for November the 17th, 2010. Dana will call Chili's to have them send the necessary information to us for that date and to emphasize that we need both the coupons and the flyer which we didn't receive with the last one after the date change.
With regards to the yard sale at Mitzi's place dated 09/04/2010 and 09/05/2010 it was reported by Sheila that we raised $359.75. We received the bill from Colorado Mountain News in the amount of $9.66, but there were problems. Dana will call to inquire and discuss the following issues: wrong date on ad; billed $9.66 instead of quoted price of $9.00 and the check we sent in the amount of $9.00 was not cashed. (check # 1052).
The final Farmer's Market dated 09/09/2010 raised $21.00.
We will be looking at WinterFest this year for a chance to raise additional funds and if it is worth our while to set-up a booth there. Dana will call to find out the number of people that attend the festivities. The price to set-up for non-profits is $10.00 for early registration and $15.00 for late registration after 11/21/2010.
Gift Shop:
Dana will be taking pictures of the pine needle baskets that Mitzi brought over to upload to the website's gift shop page.
Insurance Inquiry:
Mitzi reported that she had called Hallam Insurance regarding liability coverage for non-profits. They have liability options ranging from $300,000 to $2,000,000 and insurance covers everything both public and private. It was also asked if there was different coverage when it came to volunteers. The agent indicated they are only covered if it is found the organization is at fault. There are discounts for non-profits and temporary coverage is available.
Horses:
We are now able to take in another rescue and Dana will send out the word to local equine vets to call us if their offices receive any cases of euthanization due to founder or navicular.
